Keeping You Up To Date on the COVID-19 (coronavirus) and the Facilities at Vernon Homes
At Vernon Homes we are working to keep you up to date on the ever changing status of Vernon Homes as it relates to the COVID-19 (coronavirus) situation, and the actions being taken at our healthcare facilities, as we seek to ensure our residents are cared for in a safe and healthy environment.
Currently, Vernon Homes does not have any cases of COVID-19 in our facilities. To reduce the potential for the virus to enter our buildings, we are implementing a variety of steps being recommended by the CDC, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and Vermont’s Department of Health (VDH).
Family Visitation Guidelines
Family visitation is now only allowed for residents who have been places on comfort care by a physician. Any individual who is allowed to enter our facilities will need to successfully complete a health status-screening questionnaire. At this time we are not allowing visitors outside of that at Vernon Green Nursing Home and Vernon Hall Assisted Living. Entrance to these buildings will be limited to:
- Employees
- Healthcare providers
- Necessary deliveries,vendors, and contractors
Staying Connected During COVID-19 (coronavirus)
We understand that connecting with family members is incredibly important and we are supporting a variety of ways for families to communicate, e.g. telephone, email, text, Skype or Facebook. Moving forward, residents clinical conferences with families will be completed via telephone.
Proactive Measures That We're Taking
We have conducted group meetings with our residents to explain the situation and answer their questions.
We are posting signs on our entryway doors and educating (reeducating) all staff of the symptoms of COVID-19, universal precautions, cleaning protocols, cross contamination and personal protection equipment usage.
We are also working with Brattleboro Memorial Hospital on protocols for the transfer of residents to and from the acute care setting as well as establishing where our staff should be assessed if a case of COVID-19 is suspected.
- We are also determining our food, medical and non-medical long-term inventory to be able to maintain an adequate stockpile of supplies from our vendors.
Applications
We are still receiving applications and are happy to review them by phone either via Zoom of FaceTime with those interested parties. You can contact our offices to setup a virtual conversation by clicking here or by calling 1 (802) 254-6041. We’re here to provide you with information about Vernon Home facilities, services, rates, vacancy availability, charitable donations or other information.
